Rehabilitation
The Convent of La Coria has undergone a process of rehabilitation since the early 1970’s. The aim has always been to follow the traditional style in the restoration.

The Church

On the site of what was the conventual church, the rehabilitation work undertaken has consisted mainly of replacing the stone floor and reinforcing the walls and support structures. The heraldic keystone over the Main Doorway is an important feature, as it dates from the reign of King Henry IV of Castile, before the union of the Crowns of Castile and Aragon.
This suggests that the Convent was begun prior to 1472, perhaps in the 1450’s. In the Church, the knotted girdle of the Franciscan Order may be noticed (around the doorway leading to the Cloister), as well as the grilled window by way of which the cloistered nuns could communicate with the outside world.
